Alice
My wife Terry and I are pleased to donate a new Cycling Without Age cycle named “Alice” to support the growing participation by our community in this most enjoyable activity of cycling.
My interest in supporting CWA was always high as the program was launched but since its beginnings, other conflicts of life pinched my expectation of being an active pilot. The opportunity to donate this bike helped us satisfy the desire to contribute.
The cycle is named for my mother, Alice Ferriss, who was an active bicyclist throughout her life.
In her later years she was a frequent beneficiary of such CWA Bike rides while living in Scarborough Terrace, a senior living home outside of Portland Maine, until she died in March 2020 at the age of 93.
It was there in 2018 where I first saw her on a ride around the grounds just as I arrived for a visit, on a cold and windy day, giant smile on her face, bundled in blankets as she enjoyed the ride. That “ride” can now live on.
